EXPORTECH WORKSHOPS Each 3-day workshop is limited to 6 - 8 companies to provide sufficient attention to address specific challenges. The small workshop size and customized format ensures each workshop is unique and allows each company to apply what they are learning to their own situation.

SESSION 1(March 2, 2010, 8:30am to 5:00pm)
EXPORT STRATEGIES AND BEST PRACTICES
Start with the big picture, focusing on successful export strategies, best practices, and a template for international growth. In the afternoon, you will delve into more specific topics: payment and financing, market research, target market selection, and assistance available from the USEAC and MEP centers.

SESSION 2(April 13, 2010, 8:30am to 5:00pm)
MECHANICS OF EXPORTING
Designed to help you gather more detailed information on critical topics; seminar contents will be tailored to specific needs of participating companies. Sample topics include: shipping and documentation, export controls, legal issues, intellectual property, and business culture.

SESSION 3(May 18, 2010, 8:30am to 5:00pm)
EXPORT PLAN PRESENTATIONS
You will present your draft plan to an experienced panel of exporters, and receive their feedback and suggestions. In between each session, participants will conduct research and work on their individual international growth plans, with coaching from one of the partner organizations.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
ExporTech helps companies enter or expand sales in global markets. The program is a structured 3-day workshop spread over 3 months. It is aimed at top executives, to help them develop a business plan to grow export sales. You’ll learn from a variety of international business experts and receive one-on-one counseling. In between sessions, you will develop an export plan with the help of an assigned coach.

At the final session, your plan will be vetted by a panel of experts who will help you avoid mistakes and see new opportunities. You’ll walk away with a blueprint for your company’s export growth. The program will connect you with organizations that will help you move quickly beyond planning to actual export sales.

WORKSHOP COST AND LOCATION
The fee for ExporTech is normally $1,495 per company, which can include up to 3 participants per company. The classroom sessions will be held at headquarters of MMTC, located in Plymouth, Michigan. A continental breakfast and catered lunch will be provided each day.

Financial support for the March 2nd kickoff session will be provided by collaborating partners, reducing the fee to only $795 per company.

Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC)
