Six Sigma BLACK BELT Program

Training and Certification

MMTC’s Black Belt Program consists of 10 days of intensive training, organized over 3 phases. Trainees receive an overview of the Six Sigma strategy, an introduction to Six Sigma roadmap, DMAIC for process improvement, in-depth training on tools for defining voice of the customer (VOC) expectations, effective project selection, competent data collection and analysis, and methods to identify and verify system improvements. The Black Belt fee includes an individual license for the MINItab® software program.

Black Belt certification is awarded to participants who complete all ten days of training, pass the Black Belt Certification Test, and submit evidence of a completed successful Six Sigma project within 120 days of the test date.

Six Sigma Black Belt Training and Certification - $5,800
(3-Phase Program; 10 days of training, half-day testing and a site visit)

Black Belt trainees receive an overview of the Six Sigma Strategy and an introduction to DMAIC method for process improvement. Phase 1 also includes in-depth training on tools for defining customer expectations and effective project selection. These materials include: Creating Project Charters, Voice of the Customer (VOC) Planning, High-level and Detailed Process Mapping, FMEA, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and calculating baseline process capability. Participants begin to use Six Sigma on selected projects from their business.

Phase 2: Analyze
(Sessions 4 through 7)

Phase 2 introduces the Black Belt Candidate to planning and execution of effective data collection and analysis. These tools are used to identify Critical Inputs (X’s) that most powerfully influence process outputs. Topics include: Multi-Vari analysis, hypothesis testing, sequential experimentation, regression analysis, confidence intervals, power and sample size, central limit theorem.

Phase 3: Improve and Control
(Sessions 8 through 10)

  Close   Close

During the final phase of training, participants continue to learn to apply Six Sigma to an actual project within their organization. Phase 3 covers methods to identify and verify the system improvements necessary to control the newly identified Critical Inputs. Expanded hypothesis testing, Design of Experiment training and final process capability, and trial implementation by pilot study are discussed. Participants also learn the value and necessity of Control tools that will enable their organization to sustain the gains produced by their project work.
